Bobb and McCulloch Halls
It is true that the freshman freeze keeps you out of frat parties for much of Fall Quarter. That's why BObb-McCulloch exists - provide 4 floors of Caligua-style boozing and debauchery. Experts extimate that at least one keg is flowing at any given moment; drawing an assignment here has been known to make RAs sob uncontrollably. A perfect dorm for everyone out there with seething vendettas against their livers.
imagine my parents' reaction when they read this? honestly, can it get any better than this??

so, what has siby been up to lately? well, for starters i've been talkin to sarah a helluva lot. i realized that over the past week we've talked on the phone for just about 20 hours. we both talk really late at night bc that's usually when i can get away from my parents. the last time we hung out i got a ring from someplace and my parents asked me where i got it that night and i was like 'uhh, i found it at the hospital.' my grandma said it had its own style to it but my parents think im now affiliated w/ a gang of some sort. the other day it was almost 6 and the sky was starting to light up and we kinda wanted to watch the sunrise tgether but then i knew she needed her sleep cuz she had work the next day. but i stayed up and watched it myself. beautiful. one of the most amazing things ive seen in a while. it even topped the grand canyon sunrise. can't wait to see her friday.
if you havent heard about thefacebook yet, you've prolly been living under a rock. this thing is too raw. i met up w/ elaine and eric all the way back from 3rd grade. we went out for lunch and while there i met one of eric's friends, anna who's goin to nu next year. we were about to leave and i was like, 'what's your name again?' she introduced herself to me but i guess i wasnt paying attention. funny how now whenever im introduced to somebody and the handshake and the exchange of names takes place it never registers that they're letting me know what their name is. this isn't making any sense. i was gonna go up to nu w/ anna and a couple of her hinsdale friends just to check out our dorms and stuff but im goin there tmrw anyways w/ my family. turns out all of them are goin the same day. we might just *happen* to bump into each other there. we'll see.
i was lookin through the list of clubs and nu and im pretty excited about joining a couple of their a capella groups. they have one called 'boomshaka'. how cool would it be when somebody asked you what you're involved in in college to say a group called boomshaka? there's also another group called brown sugar that just sings indian songs. im a big fan of hindi music as it is. very pimp. anna and i have decided to start a pingpong club at nu and w/ the huge asian pop im sure we'll find ppl who share our interest. on the nu site i found that there's a swashbuckling club. too raw. learn how to use a sword and be a pirate. what more could one ask for? then i read the description and found out its actually a group against piracy of music and stuff. that was seriously the biggest letdown of my summer. i was checkin out the orientation booklet, and saw daniel tosh is coming! i saw this guy once on comedy central presents and died laughing. i have the mp3 of it and i intend to put it on here some time if i can only find some online storage space. yeah, but he's coming and all nu kids get free tickets. flame on.
the other night i was up around 1.30 jammin on the guitar w/ such songs as puff, karma police, and yesterday and i hear lotsa noise outside. i go look through a window and see my neighbors are at it again w/ one of their huge parties. if i look outta the side of my house i can see their backyard just w/ the way our houses are situated. i debated goin out there and joining them for a bit. all of em are two years older than me and i've never talked to the guy who lives there before despite living beside him for 8 years. i mean, what's the worst that could happen? they'd laugh and tell me to go away. or they coulda been cool and i coulda chilled w/ them around a fire. i wussed out and went back to my guitar. im such a pussy.
i love going to church. correction, i love the ppl of my church. i dont really go to church for spiritual renewal or growth every sunday; i just go to see friends. but isnt that an aspect of all organized religions, fellowship? after church always somebody has a baskeball or a soccer ball and we just chill. like i've said before, all these guys are younger than me and look up to me. its a fantabulous feeling. sometimes there's stuff goin on after church and we end up stayin at church for up to 5-6 hours. the kid in the slideshow above is josh. this kid is hillarious - he always wants to fight somebody, but he really likes me and according to his mom he talks about me all the time. what a character. yesterday was the sunday school anniversary so we ended up stayin there for a while. then a friend of royson's came over to wish him happy bday and then andrew came out and it was just a couple of us talkin then more and more kids came outside from the anniversary program to chill w/ us 'older kids.' this anniversary is basically a time for parents to show off their kids so you have kids singing in groups and kids playing instruments and all. turns out andrew and royson were outside right when they were supposed to be singin w/ priya. my dad came outside yellin at all of us to get back in instead of socializing outside. priya was standin up in front by herself. i found it all rather comical.
i went to fenfen tday to square away some credit transfer stuff and who do i bump into but miss liz perry. turns out i cant go to uofi w/ her bc the parentals totally shut down the idea so maybe if she comes back home later and im still in school she can just pick me up from school and we can go down and nobody's the wiser. we're both gonna go see w/o a paddle on wednesday, and i kinda wanna know who else wants to go too that's still around. i saw fforce and he told me they have a new rule there. apparently it's called the 'siby rule'. no cameras allowed at school. i can just imagine it being explained at some orientation thing. 'and this is the siby rule. you see, there was a kid who graduated from here last year...' and just like that i become legend in the halls of fenfen.

ps - tday i was spending the day at work w/ my mom and there was some food availabe in a conference room in another building. so we went over there got some gourmet roast beef samiches and proceeded to eat. then my mom introduced me to one of the residents and told me he graduated from fenfen. and the guy was like 'oh, so there are 3 friars in the room'. apparently another guy was too, he was in the last class of all guys. then they both started askin me if diff teachers were still there like depauldo, rudnik, conrad, and fr wren. then one guy was like 'ohhh, do you know that one english teacher... what was his name? oh, egan!' and i was like 'uhh yeah, im not a huge fan of him' and the guy started laughing and was like 'egan, that is one scurrry guy!' and my mom was all confused and was like 'oh, i really liked egan' and the resident says 'oh my god, egan. he's the nicest man when your parent's in the room then when they leave he grabs your shirt and throws you against a locker'. my mom was just dumbfounded. i mean, i've always told her egan wasnt exactly what she thought but i never used to go into details. 'i never knew...' i just about died laughing.

summer school finished. and im tryna keep outta trouble. i got a b in the class but who gives. i got my ap scores back and just about all of em sucked. nevertheless, apathy and optimism. i just hafta take a couple placement tests. i breezed through the math one tday but i went to my new dentist tday and he talks nonstop. he was tellin me that if i wanted to go to med school i shouldnt take any advanced courses or id risk getting b's or even c's when i could retake english, math, and chem and get easy a's the second time around. not bad advice. so no more placement tests for me. i actually got my housing too. i managed to get into my #1 choice surprisingly which is usually reserved for sophs. happy day.
our choir fest also took place. we practiced like crazy for it at diff ppl's houses. i personally believe we were the best english group there. (i also found out my cousin is really really bad at keeping secrets.) i finally went out w/ nowo and met sarah and went to pf chang's. very cool. shame we havent met sooner. my sister's still around the house. i think it's a week more before she heads back. she's still pretty anal about things. i said 'ass' the other day and she was like 'what did you say?' and i was like 'just go away.' ive been progressing on the guitar. im attempting some dmb which is extremly difficult.
my church is having a raffle to help fund the building of our actual church building. since my dad's the vice prez of our new church and hes on the building committee he's going to be going to diff places to sell tickets. the grand prize is some cruise and 2nd is a new bmw. id rather have a car than a cruise. my lack of a driver's license could be a factor in this opinion. but anywho, my dad's going to houston this month and detroit early next month. which just works out perfectly bc i really wanna see my cousins down in houston (and ashley ;)) and since we have relatives in detroit my mom'll prolly go w/ my dad and ill push my luck on going to u of i (which is ranked one of the top 10 party schools in the US) while they're off in detroit. i could even ask it of them as a kinda bday present. i heart northwestern and its late start.
oh yeah, i went to vegas last week. ive been there before a couple years ago and we stayed at exacalibur on the strip and we went to a couple diff shows and a medieval type one in our hotel kinda like medieval times. sweetness. since it was all part of one of my mom's conferences everything was free. but this time since we went w/ my cousins and 3 sets of grandparents, 14 ppl in all, and since it wasnt an all expense paid trip we were the typical indians. cheap. yeah we saw a buncha hotels but it wasnt too exciting. it was really good that my cousins were there w/ me though. jeffrey never fails to crack me up with something. we went to the grand canyon for one day which was interesting bc we were up at around 4 in the morning to see the sunrise and we're on this bus and my two cousins are singing songs. i took the hotel blanket bc at sunset the night before a lady said it would be really cold. it was quite picturesque the buch of us huddled together in an oversized beige blanket. i still want to go to vegas just one more time. when im old enough. probably with somebody. see a couple shows. blue man group, pen & teller, zumanity. there was one free show we were gonna see but it had women w/ their shirts off and my parents said it wasnt appropriate for 'family viewing'. i still think the coolest part of the trip was the bellagio fountain. reminded me of the end of ocean's 11. it's one of those things you see and your jaw drops open and you go 'wow'.
when i came back i slept over at my other cousins' for the weekend. we went to millenium park and then navy pier and also saw spiderman2. in short, millenium park is raw. they've got this huge bean up. i remember last summer wondering why the hell they needed a giant bean in the middle of chicago. it's a huge mirror and when you stand under it. very cool. another thing. there is a distinct difference between cute and fine. just about all the girls i know are cute. only a few go above and beyond to make it into fine. and just because *somebody* says a girl is cute or hot doesnt mean that they like that particular girl. it's just a general statement being made. doesnt make him/her a rapist or anything... things are so weird nowadays.
