labor day weekend was awesome. i was down in TX w/ my cousins whom i havent seen for a while. it's 3 girls, gena, sheena, and sharon. i remember the last time i saw em i used to only talk to gena and sheena would kinda annoy me and sharon was spoiled (check out the 7.5.2003 post); now sheena is a lot more mature and sharon isnt as irritable. we did the ususal, go to the mall, watch a couple movies, catch up on stuff, talk about hike school, talk about london, show each other pictures... haha, on sunday we went to church and i went w/ gena to her sunday school class and there met ashley finally. their sunday school lets out halfway through the service which i found convenient. so it was me and about 5 of gena's friends about to walk into the santuary and she asks me where im gonna sit because all the guys sit on the left, all the girls sit on the right, no exceptions. i told her id find someplace but she asked if i wanted to sit w/ her and her friends. i thought it might be a bit risque but what the hell. we all tried to find some room in the back but ended up sitting in the 3rd row from the front. 6 girls and then me. throughout the service all of the women around me just kept eyeing me and gena. the one right in front of me looked back at us no less than 8 times. i told gena that it'd be even funnier if i put my arm around her or sumthin. i was told i had major balls to pull sumthing like that. it just so happened that sheena's bday happend to be on the same day as mine, labor day. (interesting how my mom was in labor on labor day). i told their parents not to do anything elaborate and i also felt kinda bad that i was takin part of the punch away from sheena's special day. i was dragged up from sleep on that monday at around 10 bc i was pretty tired bc i had been talkin to sarah for about 2.5 hrs early that morning. there were two small ice cream cakes and there was a bday tablespread and a bday wallhanging, and bday napkins. whenever we have bday cakes it's usually customary (w/ my family/relatives) to take a bit of cake and give it to all the family members in their mouths. i dont know of anybody else who does this besides newlyweds at marriages. but gena smeared frosting on sheena's face and that started it off. it was a damn good time. then after eating cake we all went out to chili's, kinda backasswards but still. i think the best part of my bday was gettin a card from sharon. she's only 5 but she loves to make bday cards. i was told that for my aunt's bday she cut out a bunch of pictures of shampoos and soaps (from her coupon collection) and pasted them all over a card. on mine, there was a large picture that i couldnt really make out. she always has to explain what her pictures mean. it was a picture of all of us (minus my sister bc she was studying. how typical.) in the midst of the pillowfight we had saturday night. i got the best of all 3 of them. the card had the layout of the room and everything. then it said 'happy bday sibchach'. in india, its customary to call older guys 'achachen' out of respect. my cousins were tellin sharon to call me 'siby achacen' but she wouldnt have it; it was wayy to long. then they said how bout siby-chach. sharon would only settle for sibchach. it was a killer card.
on tuesday i hung out w/ sarah which as always proved interesting. we watched road trip then planned on goin out for lunch which just didnt happen. last time we hung out at oakbrook mall we went into banana republic which i told her was my fav store. no, i dont have any clothes from there bc i dont think i could live with myself if i owned a $45 shirt. i had a feelin she'd decide to get me sumhtin from there so i sent her an email w/ the lyrics of 'can't buy me love'. but sure enough, on tuesday she gave me a pimp green sweater from there. too raw. its just that i cant wear it till i get to college or my parents'll wonder where i got it from. gena found it amusing that my sister asked me where i had gotten my ring from. my family just notices small things like that about me. like a bunch of hawks. later that day my dad finally decided to take me to get my license. i didnt see what the point of me having my license a mere week before college started but i didnt complain. if i had gone before i turned 18 i wouldnt have had to take the test bc i had passed the one at drivers ed. right before the guy that was gonna give me the test got into the car i realized i didnt know how to do uphill/downhill parking. i frantically called a couple ppl but came up w/ nothing. i called perry and she told me 'up, up, and away'. how simple, uphill: away, downhill: towards. nowo told me they prolly wouldnt ask me that but sure enough he asked me to pull over and demonstrate an uphill park. just another reason why liz rocks my world. so i thought i did pretty well but then on the sheet it had a column of fair and a column of poor. i had no idea how to calculate my score. but apparently i passed and the lady takin my picture told me 'i had a smile to kill for'. course she prolly told that to everybody. i got my license and no, the smile was not to kill for. i look retarded. the usual.
yesterday i went to an athletic center and played badminton for my first time. i mean, i better know how to play if i intend to join a club at nu. a couple guys from my church go every thursday and play there for a couple hrs. i def had my ass handed to me. but i started gettin better and had an awesome time. they've been doin this for about a year. its a damn shame i only found this out a week before i head off to college. anywho. im heading off to my cousins' in a lil bit bc my mom's already in san francisco and my dad's going to detroit at 4am tmrw. so im spending the weekend w/ my cousins which is nice since its the weekend before i go to school. ppl are askin me if i can believe im going to college in 4 days. i dunno, the kick of it really hasnt hit home yet. im thinkin itll only hit a few days into orientation or so. live it up.
